Right? I'm curious as to how exactly it ended up so deep, and who put the bubble in place, you know? This entire city is a wreck... perhaps some great storm?

Or even a vengeful god of some sort. Both are a possibility. The previous tenants of this city believed they owed a great deal of their wealth and happiness to angelic figures. Maybe they weren't thankful enough to these angels they so revered that they took it upon themselves to cast their worshippers down, so to speak...
