[ Sometime after people stopped trickling in, Kotetsu left the grand hall to go out searching for his own answers. He's still limping from yesterday, but despite his injuries, he's standing fairly tall.

Finley, however, is in her lion form with her head dropped down, stalking just a bit behind Kotetsu. But when he sees another out on the streets, he gives them a passing nod as a greeting. ]

All things considered, how's it going?

[ diluc didn't bother sticking around long, once head count was over and they discovered who was missing. he decided to do his own digging, canopus in her owl form flying ahead, as he left out.

he notices kotetsu and gives a nod back. ]

Doing alright on my end, and you? How's your injuries?

[ sir your leg ]

Sore, but that comes with a body full of bruises.

[ a little wryly ]

But I'm doing fine. Nothing too serious.

[ it's just a limp! don't worry about it ]

[ it's been such a long week, diluc's been running around since friday, he's exhausted. one last check on kaeya and then he'll return to his room.

but first!! he catches sight of kotetsu as he's heading in the mansion. ]

Oh, Kotetsu, good evening.

[ things have been really hectic, haven't they? but even so, he's not about to rush past when diluc greets him and gives him a small salute. ]

Hey, Diluc. How're you holding up?

Doing much better. How about yourself?

[ he doesn't look like a walking corpse anymore which is good. ]

Not bad. It was a long day, but it feels pretty good. I think a lot of people can breathe a sigh of relief right now.

[ that is very good! ]

I agree.

[ he's quiet for a moment. ]

It's lucky that I ran into you. I wanted to thank you, for helping Kaeya as much as you have. It's good to know he has people like you around him. [ smiles. ]

[ there's a warm smile that crosses his face. ]

He's a good man. I'm glad I could help him out where I could. [ then, a little softer. ] He's really important to you, isn't he?

[ diluc blinks, but then softens back to a smile. ]

He is. We've known each other for a long time and despite our differences, I'm very thankful to have him here through all of this.

[ soft... ]

It must be nice having someone familiar here with you through all this.

[ it doesn't sound filled with envy or bitterness, but it does sound like it would also be nice. ]

It most certainly helps.

[ perceives this. ]

Do you have someone like that back home, Kotetsu?

Yes and no. I haven't known him that long of a time, though.

[ At some point in the day, he's seeking Diluc out to talk to him. Still using his crutch, but luckily his injuries are currently massive bruising on his side. It's fine. This is better than other options.

Finley is in her tiger form with a little dragon friend perched on her back, peering around. ]

I really want to thank you for last night. Letting Sholmes stay with us.

[ he's pretty easy to spot and he also doesn't move much due to the cold, and the bleeding wound on his side. but it's fine!

canopus turns to finley, offering a meow in greeting, and then looking curiously at the lil dragon friend. ]

You're welcome, it's the least I could do. [ he nods and smiles. ] He's welcome anytime.

[ Everyone is Fine out here.

Finley lowers her head in greeting, dragon flapping its wings a bit. ]

Thank you... I feel bad about it. I couldn't let him sleep in the chapel alone, so I'm glad you're willing to let him in.

[ There is something very warm, very grateful in his tone. And let's be real, at this point, it's probably telling how close they are with how they curled up together on the floor... Daemons and all. ]

Of course, no one should be sleeping alone here, it's far too cold. And I've let others in before, in past weeks, so it really is no trouble.

[ he definitely didn't miss how they were cuddled up together, whether it was from the cold or from being so close. both sound good.

he smiles. ]

You two seem very close.

You're a very kind man.

[ He scratches his cheek a little, maybe a hit of a blush on his face at that and he nods. ]

We are. He's been a great ally to me.

[ raises an eyebrow at this. hmm... ]

That's good to hear. Having someone you can call a close ally, here, it helps get through the hardest of times.

[ he won't drag them outright, but he will heavily imply that he suspects there's more to it. :eyes: ]

I wish you two the best.

[ he can tell the implication is there because.. well... ]

...It's like you think it is.

[ he'll confirm it straight out like this. besides, he already heard about some claw marks on kaeya, so. it's only fair. ]
