((Feel free to hear as much or as little dialog as you desire.))

Your mother is talking on the phone. "Yes. Yes. No. Thank you very much." You stand there with your chest tight, concerned.

"What did they say, Mom?"

"It seems she left school. And she hasn't gone to any of her friends' houses either."

"I see." You look at your phone, trying to call her again. "Still can't get through to her cellphone." You run out of the house, into the rain, haphazardly throwing on your coat as you go. "I'm going to look around the area."

The bus stop. No one. You yell out her name, "Kaede! Where are you?! Kaede!"

Your brother honks, driving up to you. "Did you find her, Kotetsu?"

"No, what about you?"

"Look at this rain. There isn't anyone around, let alone Kaede. I hope she's just taking shelter from the rain somewhere."

You keep searching. You have to find her. Your yells echo out, "Kaede! It's Daddy!" Your brother helps in yelling for her.

Lightning flashes and you have a deep, overwhelming sense of dread. You remember your wife for a second before determination sets in. You have to find her. "I'll have to take my chances."

"Hey, using your powers and searching around aimlessly won't do you any good."

"I know that." You set your time. "Just be quiet for a bit." You close your eyes, focusing as you use your power. The rain coming down sounds louder. You're desperate to hear anything. Begging inside to hear anything from her. Panic. Your time is running out.

And then you hear it. "Dad... Help! Dad!" Your daughter's voice crying for you.

You immediately rush to her, prying at the door of the shrine. "Kaede! Are you in there, Kaede?!"

"Dad!" Her voice rings true.

You start throwing logs off of the door. "Yeah, it's Daddy!" You feel your resolve and strength focus. "You must have been terrified. I'll get you out right away! Everything's going to be fine." As you pick up one more log, your power runs out and you drop to your knees.

"Dad?!"

"It's okay, Kaede! Your daddy is Kotetsu Kaburagi. He won't give up so easily!" You don't care if you don't have your powers. You push through, picking up the tree despite that. "What good is a hero... if he can't even save his own daughter!" And you throw a tree.

You fling the doors open. "Kaede!" You feel immense relief seeing her there.

"Dad!" And she runs into your arms. Crying into you.

"Kaede. You're safe now."

"I'm sorry, Dad. I'm so sorry."

The relief and gratitude of having her back in your arms. It's overwhelming to the point of bringing you to tears. You're also overcome by a feeling of regret. "It's all right, Kaede. Daddy is sorry too. I'm sorry for making you feel so lonely."

You carry her away as the shrine collapses behind you. She's your entire world.
