[ Who knows if it works of if people are indulging him. Though, it seems like the former. ]
Protect the city from criminals. There's a law enforcement, but there are people that decide to use their powers for bad. That's where the heroes step in. I used to be one of the featured and sponsored heroes. It's how I made my living. More recently, I've had to work with the side heroes, for various reasons.
Besides, I'm happier there. More focus on the saving, less focus on appealing to the viewership.
[ He nods to that, walking casual as they get closer. ]
Yeah... It was the best way to make a living as a hero. I wasn't always fond of how they tried to make things more dramatic. I just wanted to save people and catch the bad guy.
I can't imagine being expected to "perform" while apprehending criminals. In fact, in the RCM we specifically try not to do anything that might be entertaining enough to end up on Channel 8.
It's amazing the differences between the worlds. And I can't say I haven't gotten into trouble before when I've insisted on doing my job over waiting for the commercial break.

[ jerks his head toward the entrance ]
Where do you think we should start?

[They leave the opera house! Southward we go.]
While we're at it, I've been meaning to ask about this... "Wild Tiger."
no subject
Yeah...? What about them?

I don't get it, at home no one says anything... I thought it worked...
[ Then, clears his throat. Kim seemed really reliable and was part of the reason the whole thing was figured out. ]
It's not a hobby. Where I'm from, I'm a professional superhero.
[ Congrats, Kim. You're officially the first one he was honest with. Th-thanks to the case? ]

What is a "professional superhero"? What do you do, exactly?

[Not to Kim, but in public, while he was in earshot.]
What sort of "powers"?

... How much strength are we talking?

[They're passing through the alley. There's no longer a barricade in sight as they approach the cafe.]
So you operate on sponsorships...

[A scoff.] Even though a culprit who knows they're being pursued is especially dangerous to leave alone, even for a few minutes...
no subject
[ Granted, he's done... things to cause more havoc, but he tries his best. ]
That's part of why I stopped being one of the headliner heroes.

[And here they are at the cafe! They go inside, check the kitchen, and...]
Nothing suspicious here. Looks like it's back to normal.
no subject
Didn't even see any blood outside like there was before.
no subject
There should have been some.
[A quiet sigh; easily missed...] ... More magical nonsense...
no subject
Do we even bother going to check the butcher's?
no subject
... It may not be necessary to continue. I think we do have our answer.

It's pretty strange they're doing this with the evidence.
