Rowan's still recovering a bit, I think. The guards' daemons were pretty brutal.

but he won't press. They've been on this topic before. he understands what grieving means to him. what he does do is lightly pat Allen on the arm. making sure not to get too close to the daemon. ]

I didn't actually... know Miss Rika very well.

My injuries were physical, mostly. And that even got healed right away when we got back.

[though the expression on his face probably gives away that he thinks it would have been better if that healing had been used on the Temporals.]

Yeah... but you all went through something like hell. I'm worried about all of you.

... the hellish thing about it was there was very little we could have actually have done to change anything about what happened.

I don't know what all those two went through when we got separated, but even fighting back didn't accomplish much. Even letting those kids out of the cages didn't change much--they just ended up killed or put back into them by the end.

But y'know... we did manage to at least... save someone. Change something, at the end of it. So that's why... it's not fine, but... I'm fine. I'll be fine.

There was one child I managed to get out of the cages who didn't end up back in them--at least, not on the "adventure". He was looking for his twin brother who'd been experimented on. A successful experiment, even. No daemon and somehow barely surviving.

After Miss Rika--after what happened then, that child found us and we were able to free his brother. Then a few other children ended up with us and we managed to escape.

I'm glad you were able to save someone. A small silver lining, but something to hold on to.
