[ He feels that, getting a bit more sheepish. But there's a sense of urgency in their bond, like there's some type of determination. For what? Who knows. But it's a feeling that makes it seem like he has to keep pushing. ]

I won't do anything that'll put me back into harm's way like that. I just didn't realize it. I'll take it easier. I don't want to trample on everyone's concern.

[ There's a sudden rush of sadness through that. Despite the somewhat lighthearted way it's stated, there's an almost overwhelming bit of grief in there. Even if he's carrying on, it's still a massive weight in his chest. ]
But I know I've got some really strong allies I don't want to let down.
[ And that pain shifts to a duller ache. Something warm overlays it. A bittersweet feeling. ]
[The wave of grief is almost startling, and he blinks, Irene at his feet blinking up at the other man. He feels he can't help it - he reaches out to grasp the man's shoulder, as if somehow the gesture will force the bad feelings down.]

[He says, quietly, unsure of what to say - uncertain reassurance buzzes like a bee, but it softens into something stronger. He knows this man is strong. He believes in him. A belief like that can add to that strength, can't it.]
You will keep going, despite everything. I know it.
[ His eyes fix on Sholmes when he feels that touch on his shoulder. A sense of comfort and ease seems to ebb back in. And those shared feelings seem to temper that pain. It still lingers, but it's not some sort of overwhelming force to drag him down.
Without saying anything at first, he brings his hand up and taps his chest. ]
I know.
[ He said he'd hold it close. And the strength felt in the bond is a proof that he holds it dear. Like that belief is some type of lifeline. ]
[It's such a definite sort of feeling that Sholmes doesn't know what to say. Yes, of course his belief will give him strength, but to actually feel that from the other man is almost momentarily overwhelming. There's a flickering of surprise.]

[And then comes a strange hint of...something close to bashfulness, more touched by the response than anything.]
[ With their feelings mixed together, there's this strange feeling that rushes through him. But that bashfulness seems to bring out the same reciprocated feeling. He can't help but grin from this. ]
I'm sure you will.
[ There's a flicked of hesitation, but he brings up his hand to take Sholmes' in his own. The feeling behind his action shows a bit of a shy concern. An ache to be accepted, a worry of how Sholmes will react from the touch. That he's worried about losing this balance they have. ]
[He looks towards their hands, then back up at Kotetsu's face. Perhaps he would react with mild surprise at first, but that ache...]
[It makes him pause in his reaction. It has bee a strange tightrope, of sorts to walk on after their talk when that curse ended. A willingness to be close, but not too close. But this is...]
[He tightens his grasp on the other's hand, accepting. It's not some grand deal, here. The tightrope stands.]
[It's a warm gesture. He'll take it, without any complaint.]
[ Despite the fact that they still need to tread carefully, he relaxes a little. That concern easing into subtle gratitude at being accepted in this way.
His own grip turns a little bit more firm at not having Sholmes pull away.
He lets his eyes drop from his hand, Finley moving from her spot behind the seat to come closer, but still keeping a little distance. ]
I don't know if I could have made it through that without you.
[ Words that are more forward and tender that he'd been holding back. Something about this moment... it felt right to say it. There's deep gratitude and pure sincerity in what he's saying. It's obvious he believes every word. Hell, he might have even done something stupid at the execution in the name of a noble sacrifice.
[They are. They must be. Kotetsu is strong on his own. What part does he factor into this equation?]
[He can't help but cast his gaze down. It's not bashfulness, this time, its just...he's touched, but concerned, but taken aback all the same. He knows what kind of a striking figure he is, as a world-famous detective. But this is on a different level. A personal level.]
[ And yet, they're sincere. There's no trick inside. Right now, he couldn't even hide any type of game if he wanted. Not that he would, but these feelings are genuine to his core.
He brings his other hand up to just... hold Sholmes' hand gently between both of his. There's a firmness to his feelings. Strong and resolute. Especially when he speaks next, matching his tone. ]
I'm only saying what I feel is true.
[ Sure, he has his secrets. Has hidden important things. But there's no chance he would say something false here. ]
[ His thumbs brush gently over Sholmes' hand. He's a clumsy man, but in times like this, his eagerness and sincerity really shine through.
He's not sure if that deserves to be called a treasure, but... something about it really makes his heart warm even more. He can feel those things from Sholmes feeding through the line. All he can do is try to send back his own comfort. Like trying to sooth a wound. Not fix. Not erase it. Just help. ]

[Its something that feels...very part and parcel of who this man is. The love he has for his daughter is immense, enough to fight a storm back. He knows that feeling well. Sholmes considers it - in a situation like that, he may not have super strength or abilities, but he would aim to do the same.]
